Our spiritual home in East Renfrewshire, Eastwood Park, is once again under lights after a major investment which saw the floodlights replaced with state-of-the-art LED units. Part-funded by East Renfrewshire Renewable Energy Fund, the investment could only have been made with the support and advice from East Renfrewshire Council who guided us through the application process.
The energy-efficient lights will allow hundreds of youth footballers to continue playing evening football secure in the knowledge the lights were fitted by industry experts Hallidays that supply lighting to many stadia across the country including Murrayfield.
Jim Docherty, vice-chair of Giffnock SC, commented: “It’s great to see the lights switched back on at Eastwood. We worked to access funding to get the kids playing at nights again and many thanks to the Council and East Renfrewshire Renewable Energy Fund for the support to make this happen.”
Andrew Hamilton, Project Manager at Hallidays commented: “We were happy to support Giffnock SC with their plans to upgrade their lighting system to LED. The investment by the club to install new floodlights rather than to keep maintaining the old system shows clear commitment to player experience and safety and to the ongoing growth and development of their club and its facilities.”
